David Soren is a Canadian director and story artist who’s worked on beloved animated films like Shrek, Chicken Run and the Captain Underpants movie. Now, for the first time, Soren is opening up about his struggles with Crohn’s disease in a semi-autobiographical novel for kids called Invisible: The (Sort Of) True Story of Me and My Hidden Disease. He sits down with Tom Power to talk about the book and how he was able to make peace with his disease. Now it could be put on the map for an entirely different reason: low-carbon, sustainable jet fuel. The company describes the products as “two critical low-carbon fuels for decarbonizing the transportation sector.”The project would proceed in two phases. The jet fuel plant would require 60 truckloads of biomass (wood waste) per day and 586 cubic meters of fresh water per hour, which would be pulled from two nearby lakes. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is a cleaner alternative to traditional jet fuel, made from sustainable sources such as biofuels, biomass, and captured carbon from oil and gas operations. SAF has another Canadian connection in Parkland Corporation, which in 2024 produced the first batch of made-in-Canada low-carbon jet fuel from its facility in Burnaby, British Columbia, just outside of Vancouver.

Talking with an AI chatbot can successfully convince people to change their votes and could affect the outcome of future elections, according to a new study. The study, which included 1,530 Canadians, also found that the chatbots had more success convincing Canadians to switch their votes than it did with Americans. The study found that interacting with the chatbot did prompt some participants to change their voting intention. Pennycook pointed out that participants in the study took six to eight minutes to interact with the AI chatbot, versus watching a quick ad.
