If you’re a fan of “Happy Valley,” its hero, police Sgt. It’s hard to call it a happy ending, but happiness seems like an overreach anyway for someone as roiled by guilt and regret as Catherine. But contentment seems within reach and that’s a more realistic goal for this show’s magnificent but troubled heroine. All three seasons of “Happy Valley” are streaming on Acorn TV and AMC Plus, with the finale debuting on Monday. Unfortunately, unlike “Happy Valley,” there won’t be a third season of “Gentleman Jack,” not unless a streamer saves the day.

Every five days, the Jays figured to be in an unenviable position that would result in uncompetitive starts and too much work for the bullpen. In six starts this season on five days’ rest, Jays ace Kevin Gausman is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA. In nine outings on regular four days’ rest, Gausman is 5-2 with a 5.12 ERA. “It was a conversation, obviously, taking a look at how many starts are going to be had before the all-star break,” Gausman said recently about the rotation. So it’s not like anyone has circled a date on the calendar.”A four-man rotation won’t be sustainable for much longer.

The Ohio House of Representatives advanced a piece of Republican-backed legislation that modernizes the statutes authorizing the Cosmetology and Barber Board. The legislation aims to update the barber and cosmetology statutes creating a unified license to harmonize the regulations and processes of the board and better serve licenses. Before the merger, the State Board of Cosmetology oversaw nearly 113,000 licensees, and the Ohio State Barber Board oversaw more than 11,000 active licenses. According to Miller, she is confident this legislation will encourage growth in the Barber and Cosmetology industry. “I am confident that these and other changes that update our code will serve to encourage the Barber and Cosmetology industry to grow and thrive in Ohio,” Miller said.

That certainly characterizes the recent history of LGBTQ rights. Fast forward this year’s celebrations, where Pride Toronto expects more than 200,000 marchers and 2.4 million spectators to join Sunday’s parade. But that very acceptance has produced a backlash, one keenly felt by Pride Toronto, which has seen skyrocketing policing and insurance costs. But for the LGBTQ community, the sign was a lot more harrowing. If the backlash still isn’t clear enough, consider this: The month of June saw the second most assaults on LGBTQ people, which means Pride Month is, ironically, among the most dangerous times for members of Toronto’s LGBTQ community.
