Internal documents obtained by a coalition calling for the preservation of the Alexandra Bridge show some federal officials expressed reservations about the plan to demolish and replace the historic Ottawa River crossing. The Alexandra Bridge Coalition said the findings have bolstered its hopes that the 123-year-old bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau, Que., will remain standing, while the federal department in charge of operating the bridge maintains the aging structure needs to come down. The Alexandra Bridge was designed by Canadian engineers and built by the Dominion Bridge Company of Lachine, Que. The coalition filed an access-to-information request a year and a half ago and received more than 1,000 pages in documents. Alexandra Bridge Coalition spokesperson Claude Royer says the documents give his group hope the bridge could be saved.

The report to the Ottawa Police Services Board on Monday draws from the paperwork officers are required to file when they display or use force. Officers most commonly used force against Black people when they were responding to calls about weapons, which the report said made up 23 per cent of all situations where Black people were subjected to force. OverviewDoug Ford's provincial government was a breath of fresh air for the residential building industry in Ontario as well as for new home buyers. Or in other cases, official plans were drafted that were not consistent with provincial policy. Much of the good work that the government had done to date for housing has backfired on it because of the Greenbelt. “We went into today’s race with no real expectations. The boys and I haven’t skated together as a team since our 2023 World Championships Medal so it was an opportunity to shake off the rust and see what we could do. We were extremely happy with the outcome. To be only four hundredths of a second off the Americans who have been on the podium at World Cups on several occasions this year, I think we’re on the right track. We still have plenty of room to improve and I’m excited to see what’s to come through the remainder of this season leading into the 2024 World Championships in Calgary.
