Over time, they associated Indian entrepreneurial groups—particularly Gujaratis, Marwaris, Sindhis, and Parsis—with negative stereotypes. The civil service, inherited from the British Indian administration, continued to hold a skeptical view of private enterprise.

UK to fight compensation claims after massive Afghanistan data leak
London: The UK will resist paying compensation to thousands of Afghans caught up in a data leak scandal, The Times reported on Saturday. Thousands of Afghans still trapped in their country have been left in fear for their safety after learning about the data breach on July 15. Before the superinjunction was lifted by a court, the government announced a small compensation scheme for victims of a separate, smaller data leak from 2021, of £4,000 ($5,364) per person. The MoD will contest compensation claims by law firms representing Afghans affected by the 2022 breach. An MoD spokesman told The Times: “We will robustly defend against any legal action or compensation.

The new middle-class tax revolt
The phenomenon known as fiscal drag — where more people pay more tax as wages increase because tax thresholds remain frozen — means that 6 million more people will pay income tax this tax year than in 2021-22. Almost 7.1 million workers are now in the higher income tax band, up 2.6 million since 2021-22, and the number of additional-rate payers has almost doubled to 1.2 million. Collectively, we’re set to pay £298.6 billion in income tax in 2025-26 — an extra £89 billion compared with four years ago, the latest government figures show, and this is set to rise further because income tax thresholds will remain frozen until at least 2028. NHS to roll out long-lasting jab to protect premature babies from RSV
NHS England said that, according to trial data, palivizumab provides around 55% protection while nirsevimab offers more than 80% protection against the virus. RSV infects 90% of children by the age of two and is one of the leading causes of hospital admission, noted NHS England. Loading…Alternatively, their family will be directed by the clinical team managing their child’s health on how to receive the immunisation ahead of winter, said NHS England. Dr Claire Fuller, co-national medical director for NHS England said: “This injection will provide premature babies with a protective bubble against RSV just in time for the colder months.
