VARANASI: As the Triple Talaq Bill was tabled in Lok Sabha on Thursday, a group of Muslim women associated with Muslim Mahila Foundation performed duakwani in its support in Kashi's Varunanagaram colony. Irked by the remarks of the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi against the bill, they also burnt his effigy. The man who gives triple talaq instantly should be sentenced to seven-year imprisonment and half of his property should be given to the woman," said the MMF president Nazneen Ansari. She said that the abolishing the practice of triple talaq is a bold and historic step in favour of Indian Muslim women. In last 70 years it did not help any woman or adopted the children of talaq victims, she said and added that shame on those who are in favour of triple talaq and halala to exploit women.
