odd-even: Next time, odd-even scheme with no exemptions: Delhi government tells NGT

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government on Wednesday submitted an action plan on combating air pollution to the National Green Tribunal ( NGT ), which states that the next phase of the odd-even car rationing scheme will include no exemptions. The vehicle rationing policy was not enforced, as the Delhi government took exception to the NGT's order to implement the odd-even scheme without any exemptions. The scheme, based on the last digit of a vehicle's registration number, was implemented twice in 2016 -- from January 1-15 and April 15-30. Under the scheme, odd and even numbered vehicles ply on alternate days. Women drivers, VVIP vehicles, two-wheelers and vehicles carrying children in school uniforms were exempted under this scheme.
