LUCKNOW: A day after Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar pitched for job reservation in private sector, BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday said that the ruling BJP alliance partner should immediately give the benefit of reservation in the state. The former UP chief minister said that her party has been pushing for reservation in private sector for quite sometime but no government at the centre ever agreed to their demand. ``The ruling JD(U) should now provide Dalits and other backward castes (OBCs) reservation in the private sector instead of making demands to get publicity,'' Mayawati said in a statement.Mayawati said that no only Dalits and OBCs, the Centre should also make arrangement of giving reservations to economically weaker people from the upper caste and Muslims. ``This would help the weaker section of society in the long run,'' she said. The BSP chief said that the BJP and its ideological fountain head, the RSS, should ensure that the job quota meant to be filled by SC/STs be filled. ``They have, otherwise, made reservation ineffective,'' she said. Mayawati also reiterated her demand for a constitutional amendment to pave way for quota in promotion for the socially backward caste.
