GEORGE TOWN: The expansion of the Penang International Airport (PIA), innovative incentive packages to promote fresh investments and retaining talents and a consistent national human resource policy on foreign workers top the Budget 2017 wishlist of investPenang and The Free Industrial Zone, Penang, Companies’ Association (Frepenca). From the property sector, the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda, Penang) is calling for Budget 2017 to address the needs of first-time buyers of affordable housing. Lee said consistent human resource policy is required to prevent the practice of flip-flop government policies dealing with the hiring of foreign workers. Frepenca also supports investPenang call for a consistent national human resource policy on foreign workers, which tops its wishlist. Mueller said the Budget 2017 should also address the upgrading of essential infrastructure to prevent regular interruptions in power and water supply, as such incidents could incur major losses for manufacturers.
