Zuraida: Inquest will shed light on Adib's death - Nation


PUTRAJAYA: An inquest into the death of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim will help determine what actually happenedto the fireman and led to his death.Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said her ministry and the Fire and Rescue Department welcomed the decision. "If there is new evidence, it can be brought up at the inquest. "We hope this will bring justice to Muhammad Adib," she said after presenting financial contributions to his family on Friday.Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Attorney General would be ordering an inquest to determine Muhamad Adib's death after the post-mortem uncovered a" few clues".Muhammad Adib, 24, of the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station, was seriously injured while on duty during riots at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Nov 27.He was part of a team of nine firemen responding to a fire at the temple in USJ 25.Although he initially showed signs of improvement during treatment at the National Heart Institute, Muhammad Adib's condition worsened and he suffered progressive deterioration of his lung function on Dec 16.He passed away a day later.His case has since been reclassified as murder.
