Noong 2016, ako rin ay nag-file bilang isang independent candidate, nanalo po tayo bilang isang independiente. Ang loyalty ko po ay nasa taumbayan, hindi lamang sa isang partido. Meanwhile, newly resigned Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar also formalized his senatorial bid by filing his CoC. In 2016, Villar gave up his congressional seat as representative of Las Piñas City to join President Rodrigo Duterte's Cabinet. He is the son of former Senate president Manuel "Manny" Villar Jr. and Sen. Cynthia Villar.
