A Dhaka court has fixed January 24 (Wednesday) for the next hearing of Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft case after recording the statements of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in this case on Tuesday. Earlier on Tuesday, the BNP Chairperson arrived in court to present her argument regarding Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft. Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia informed that she would appear in front of the special court as soon as it started. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case in 2008 against six people, including Khaleda and her eldest son Tarique Rahman, for allegedly misusing Tk2.1 crore from the funds of the Zia Orphanage Trust. In addition, in 2011, the ACC accused the BNP chief and three others of misappropriating Tk3.15 crore from the Zia Charitable Trust Fund.
