Zardari to remain in NAB custody till July 2 after court extends remand

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Friday extended the physical remand of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari by 11-days. Following the court order, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) left the court with the former president. The corruption watchdog presented Zardari before the court as his earlier 11-day remand came to an end. A day after his arrest on June 10, accountability judge Mohammad Arshad Malik had granted NAB physical remand of the former president and ordered that Zardari be presented before the court again on June 21. As the proceedings went underway, the bureau requested a 14-day extension in Zardari’s physical remand.
