Zardari’s request for transfer of cases set aside by SC

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had placed a request before the Supreme Court (SC) for the transfer of his case from Islamabad to Karachi, which has been set aside by the apex court. The petition seeks the transfer of the fake bank accounts reference, Park Lane reference, Thatta Water Supply reference, and Toshakhana reference, citing Zardari’s ill health as the reason for the transfer. On November 13, the Registrar Office had raised objections to the application regarding the transfer corruption cases in accountability courts. Last month, an accountability court in Islamabad had approved the former president’s petition seeking exemption from personal appearance in the Park Lane reference. A loan worth Rs 1.5 billion was taken from a bank and transferred to the company’s account in a private bank.
