LAHAD DATU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be in town tomorrow to get updates on the security situation in Sabah’s east coast. Zahid will start his working visit in the morning by chairing the advisory board meeting for the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) at the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) office here. Zahid is then slated to visit the district’s General Operations Force (GOF) post in Silam at 1.45pm before ending his programme here. The latest security challenges and issues are expected to be highlighted during his time here. The public can also expect further announcement on security developments or assets in the east coast, which harbours security risks due to its close proximity to neighbouring countries as well as past kidnapping incidents and the 2013 Lahad Datu intrusion.
