Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus is set to hold talks with three major political parties -- the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party -- on Sunday to discuss the current political situation and the upcoming general election. The head of the interim government will meet with each party separately, starting with the BNP at 3pm, followed by Jamaat at 4:30pm, and NCP at 6pm, according to his press aide Shafiqul Alam. Alam said the decision was made at a high-level meeting chaired by Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday. A statement from the Chief Advisor's Office confirmed that the general election will take place in the first half of February 2026. Any attempt to delay or disrupt the election through conspiracies or obstacles will be firmly resisted by the interim government and our democracy-loving patriotic citizens,” the statement read.
