Youthline is preparing to slash staff numbers as it struggles to stay afloat in the face of funding cuts. CATRIN OWEN/ FAIRFAX NZ Youthline CEO Stephen Bell promises there'll be support through the holidays, despite the cuts. Bell said several staff at Youthline had offered to stay on as volunteers if their paid positions were axed, but acknowledged that was not a long-term solution. However he noted that despite the cut, Youthline still receives $3.6m in funding from MSD to provide a range of services.
