Zeidan - ETCAIRO - 14 April 2020: Six nominees are competing in the shortlist of the Arabic Fiction Booker Award 2020. The nominees are Youssef Zeidan (Egypt), Aliaa Mamdouh (Iraq), Saeed Khateby (Algeria), Jabour al-Dowaihi (Lebanon) and Abdul Wahab Esawy (Algeria).The award was established in 2007 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where it is based. It is organized by a funding from the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and sponsored by the British Booker Award Foundation.The winner is scheduled to be announced on April 14, by broadcasting a video on the award's website. The video will include comments from the award team and the head of the jury, Mohsen al-Musawi, in addition to the winner of the award.Youssef Zeidan is an Egyptian writer and philosopher. However, the novel did not make it to the short list, and the award was granted to Lebanese writer Rabie Jaber.
