The TV firm Vizio has, according to the Federal Trade Commission, been collecting as many as a billion data points of information per day from the millions of TVs it has sold since 2014. Vizio was therefore able to tell exactly what consumers were watching, no matter what device they were playing from. Did you watch porn on your internet-connected Vizio TV? The firm knew your favourite shows, how much TV you watched and pretty much everything else you did on your TV screen. It's not clear if the firm might face further civil action from owners of TVs who have been spied upon.
