You know how the Junos and the Grammys are sometimes a little late in acknowledging “best new artists”? Well, Your New Favourite Thing occasionally feels similarly compelled to play catch-up with a favourite thing that isn’t entirely new but is suddenly registering a big blip on the radar. Slow Down Molasses’ fourth LP, 100% Sunshine — issued earlier this month by the kindred spirits at Nova Scotia’s fab Noyes Records — is the brawniest, bandiest, most fluently, fluidly battering and, yes, best release yet to bear the band’s name. Which, it must be said, the band does a fair bit on this record. At least until it covers Galaxie 500’s “Flowers” and turns into Slowdive at the end.
