A 23-year-old man died at a property in Ashburton in Mid-Canterbury after sustaining critical injuries. Interim name suppression was granted to a 19-year-old woman charged with the murder of 23-year-old Peter Tawhiwhorangi Hemi at Ashburton on Friday. The woman was arrested on Monday night and appeared before Judge Tony Couch in the Christchurch District Court on Tuesday morning. SUPPLIED Peter Hemi was a father of three children, including a 2-week-old baby. His mother, Te Atatu Hemi, has had to use a wheelchair since an accident at work left her paralysed.
