Young man dies after car leads police on three-minute chaseSIMON MAUDE/STUFF Police tried to stop the car after it was seen speeding. A young man died and three others were injured after the car they were in led police on a three-minute chase in Wairoa. Police said the 22-year-old Gisborne man was in a car that failed to stop after police tried to pull it over about 7.27pm on Sunday night. The driver then allegedly fled from police, and at 7.30pm police abandoned the pursuit as they could no longer see the car. Another man in the car was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a critical condition, but is now stable.
