A 13-year-old Omarama girl who died in a horse-riding accident has been remembered as a "special girl with a heart of gold". Eliza-Jayne Coetzee died after falling off the horse she was riding in a paddock near Airport Rd, about 30km south of Twizel, on Friday afternoon. A Givealittle page set up to help raise funds for funeral costs and general expenses says Eliza-Jayne died after falling from "one of her beloved horses". The fundraising page set up on Monday morning had already raised $490 by lunch time that day, with four donors donating $170 within 30 minutes of the page being set up. "We would like to help raise funds to support Eliza's mum Tania and family at this time with funeral and general living costs.
