When police appealed for sightings of Violet Cowan, an eagle eyed meter reader helped find her. A local meter reader who saw 14-year-old Violet Cowan the day she was found could well be the reason she was found so quickly. The meter reader saw Cowan walk on to a driveway in Wadestown on Tuesday, October 9, toward an area of bush. KEVIN STENT/STUFF A mobile police base was set up on Weld Street, Wadestown, thanks to the meter reader's tip. "Sightings from the public are critical when we're trying to contain a search area and it allows us to cast a much greater net."
