A dozen young Cycling South Canterbury riders are headed for Invercargill and the first round of Cycling New Zealand's National Road Series from Friday. The riders involved represent the club's largest ever turnout in the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland with the three-day event seeing them racing in grades from under-13 to under-19 with two stages each day. Travelling south are Sophie Best, Kyra Marrett, Flynn Turnbull, Conor Toomey, Charlie Quested, Jesse Johnston, Ferguson Sail, Noah Hollamby, Cameron Anderson, Josh Young, Jaxson Whyte and James Wilson. “With the event having been running for 38 years it is iconic, and many of our top international cyclists have cut their teeth racing in Southland,” tour director Glen Thomson told Stuff.
