William Hansen, from Palmerston North Boys’ High School, was second in the 110m event in 2002. Liam Carr, Boys’ High, was the triple-jump gold medallist for 2012, adding a long jump bronze in 2013. In the junior boys’ long jump, Boys’ High athletes Paul Nagel in 1987 and Carr in 2011 won gold. In the senior girls’ long jump Emma Callesen, Girls’ High, won bronze in 1997 and 1998. In the junior girls’, surprisingly, I have been unable to find any long jump medallist, but in the triple jump Girls’ High had plenty of success.
