Leon Trotsky, subject of the Netflix mini-series ”Trotsky.” The photo was taken a few days before his murder on Aug. 20, 1940, at his home in Mexico City. “Trotsky” is the latest effort by Russian state-run media to sell its worldview abroad. Now it’s being delivered to foreign Netflix viewers. Trotsky, whose Jewish heritage the show refers to over and over, is not an ethnic Russian like Vladimir Lenin. And Netflix should think carefully about whether it wants to be in business, however indirectly, with Russia’s propaganda channels.
