You keep the peace, we’ll take the Rohingya

Let’s get this out of the way: The Nobel Peace Prize, as prestigious as it may be, does not have the greatest track record. The quality of peace is fragile; it is dependent on demography and geography, perceptions and repercussions, history and future, intertwined with people and peoples. hundreds of thousands of Rohingya have fled across the border into little Bangladesh. If there ever was a jackpot for the worst “type” of person to be in this current era, the Rohingya would have won. When, decades down the line, the grandchild of a Rohingya refugee is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and rejects it on principle, the world will hang its head in shame.
