Yoruba Council of Elders cautions on credible 2019 elections

To achieve a credible result in the coming general elections, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), Egbe Igbimo Agba Yoruba, in Kwara State, has called on Nigerians to shun violence before, during and after the polls in all parts of the country. The group, which advocated for peaceful elections, stressed the need for voters to actively participate in the conduct of the election by coming out en masse to vote for the credible candidates of their choice. The Igbimo Agba Yoruba in the state also advised politicians to run the race according to laid down rules and regulations, saying that they should adopt the spirit of sportsmanship. The group also charged security agencies to display professionalism in carrying out their duties before, during and after the elections. Describing the group as nonpolitical and nonreligious, the elders called on political leaders, religious leaders and traditional rulers to discourage thuggery and all acts capable of tarnishing the image of the country.
