Avis Glaze, a former associate director at the York board, said in the past the board prided itself on creating leaders with integrity. Education Minister Mitzie Hunter recently asked the York Region school board for a plan of action on how they hope to deal with concerns about alleged racism and other issues at the board. “They are bound to happen — not just in York Region,” but it’s the response that counts.
