Yesterday: Danny Boyle's new movie imagines life without The Beatles


Yesterday is scheduled to open in NZ cinemas on June 27. While Sir Peter Jackson surprised everyone recently by announcing he was going to make a documentary about The Beatles, Danny Boyle's (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) new movie has given fans of The Fab Four an even bigger shock. Song title. "No Beatles means no Britpop, which means no Blur, which means no Song 2, which causes air guitar to disappear as an art form," wrote The Ringer's Michael Baumann. Speaking to Variety magazine, Boyle said Yesterday wasn't a time travel movie, "but it feels like introducing the Beatles music to America for the first time-again".
