In the 60 years that humans have been sending objects into space, only one person has reported being hit by a piece of space debris. It also may be a comfort to know that man-made objects fall from space quite regularly. It is relatively small for a space station, weighing in at just under 20,000 pounds. For the sake of comparison, the International Space Station weighs about 925,000 pounds. An artist's depiction shows Tiangong-1, the Chinese space station that will plummet to Earth soon.
