On January 28 last year, Bhubaneswar emerged first in the national-level race for smart city. The special purpose vehicle — Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited — formed to execute the project has already received its first instalment of Rs 194 crore from the Centre. With the fund in hand, the city administration decided to kick-start at least four projects — the railway station multi-modal hub, smart traffic signalling system, city wi-fi and smart Janpath.
