Yankees Bringing Back C.C. Sabathia for a Year, at a Discount

PhotoOnce C. C. Sabathia determined that he wanted to keep pitching, there was little doubt that he wanted to remain with the Yankees. Sabathia and his wife, Amber, both natives of Northern California, have raised their four children in the New York area and have no intention of moving once he retires. And the Yankees, having re-emerged as legitimate World Series contenders, are in a position to allow Sabathia the big-game moments he relishes. Still, it took until Saturday — about six weeks after he became a free agent — for the Yankees and Sabathia to agree on a one-year, $10 million contract. The deal, which is pending a physical, was first reported by MLB.com and was confirmed by a baseball official who was not authorized to speak publicly until the agreement has been completed.
