TAMPA, Fla.—Major League Baseball has told New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge his comments attempting to recruit Baltimore shortstop Manny Machado violate the sport’s tampering rules, and Judge says he has learned the lesson. When the Yankees played the Orioles in Sarasota on Wednesday, Judge encountered Machado on the field before the game. “Adding him to our lineup that we’ve already got, it’d be something special,” Judge told reporters. “I told him, ‘You’d look good in pinstripes.’” Judge added: “He just kind of laughed it off. “I’m just glad they didn’t catch Manny recruiting Judge,” Showalter said.
