Yangtze River overflows, again

The water level rises at the Chaotianmen section of Yangtze River in southwestern Chongqing municipality on Friday morning. The Yangtze River recorded its second flood of the year on Friday morning in its upper reaches after days of torrential rainfall, Xinhua reports. The flood was caused by rising water levels in the river's trunk streams along the upper reaches, leading to the increasing inflow into the Three Gorges reservoir. The reservoir has activated a total flood control capacity of about 7 billion cubic meters. The Yangtze River basin is forecast to see a new round of heavy rainfalls in the coming days, according to experts from the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources.
