Yamaha Motor Research & Development India Pvt. Ltd. (YMRI) has set up its second R&D (research and development) centre on the premises of its unit in Kancheepuram district in Tamil Nadu at an investment outlay of Rs.66 crore. “The objective of the new centre is to develop models for India and eventually, the global market,” Yasuo Ishihara, Managing Director, said. The new centre has state-of-the-art facilities, including prototype testing and validation and a test-track with simulation of Indian road conditions. The fresh investment on the R&D front is a part of the Rs.1,500 crore that the company has committed to make in India by 2018.
