Today Xilinx unveiled a new top-of-the-line adaptable compute acceleration platform, or ACAP, with impressive performance and new features that should improve efficiency with built-in infrastructure and controllers. The new Versal Premium, which joins the previously announced Versal AI Core and the Versal Prime, will begin sampling in the first half of 2021 (though users can begin prototyping now with the Versal Prime eval kit). Versal PremiumBuilt on the foundational Prime series, Versal Premium offers 112Gb transceivers, multi-hundred gigabit Ethernet and Interlaken connectivity, high speed cryptography and PCIe Gen5 with built-in DMA, supporting both CCIX and CXL interconnects. Versal Premium delivers three times the bandwidth and twice the compute density of previous FPGAs based on 16nm. The Anomaly Detection results are even more compelling and relevant, given that networking is squarely in the bulls-eye for the Versal Premium platform.
