Xiaomi has been long rumoured to launch its own chipset dubbed Pinecone, brushing shoulders alongside Huawei in its home country China. Otherwise Xiaomi wouldn't have missed MWC as the platform for the announcement -- happening in Barcelona, Spain at the same time. The post reads "we are really excited and proud to announce that Xiaomi is going to lift the lid on the details about its own "Pinecone" SoC on 28th February". The post also says the "term Pinecone is translated directly from the Chinese term and not yet confirmed by Xiaomi", which means it might have a different name at the launch.
