Xiaomi shares top slot with Samsung in India in Q3, 2017: IDC


Buoyed by strong sales in the run-up to Diwali, Chinese smartphone player Xiaomi has for the first time has become the top smartphone company in India. The company, however, shares the top slot with market leader Samsung in the Indian smartphone market. Xiaomi had a market share of 23.5%, having shipped 9.2 million smartphones during the third quarter of this year. For Xiaomi, Redmi Note 4 continues to be the best-selling smartphone in India as the company shipped approximately four million units in this quarter. “Online channel in India sees a seasonal spike peaking in Q3 on the back of multiple round of online sales following upto festival months in India,” added Jaipal Singh, Senior Analyst, IDC India.
