The 2-year-old giraffe left Taipei Zoo today for Leofoo Village in Hsinchu County, where he'll be put to work in the amusement park's breeding program. Giraffes are jumpy by nature, so the zoo spent months preparing Xiao Zhang for the bumpy ride. Zookeepers gradually got him comfortable with the crate by serving him delicious leafy branches inside it, even eventually with the crate door closed. They also ensured his physical health during and after the trip by boosting his immune system with vitamins and nutritional supplements. Xiao Zhang was born May 13, 2015, arriving 305 cm tall and weighing 315 kilograms.
