Wymore Police Chief Bobby Martinez is leaving that position to take the same job in Valley. Martinez came to Wymore in August 2023 after three years in the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office. Martinez has been hired to be the chief of police in Valley, according to Brett Smith, Valley's acting chief. In moving to Valley, Martinez will be in charge of a department with five full-time officers in addition to himself and five part-time officers in a community of almost 3,500 people west of Omaha. The department had been inactive and the chief's position vacant since March 2023 when Martinez took over as the only full-time officer.
