Supreme Court lawyer Md Ashraful Islam filed the writ petition as public interest litigation on Monday. On September 14, madrasa student Matiur Rahman reportedly attempted to rape a 10th grade student in Nagarpur. According to the lawyer, the victim’s father lodged a written complaint with Nagarpur police station the day after the incident, but police did not record the case. Later, the father of the victim complained as police had not taken any action 22 days after the incident.
