Wrist-worn trackers can detect Covid before symptoms, study finds

Health trackers worn on the wrist could be used to spot Covid-19 days before any symptoms appear, according to researchers. The discovery could lead to health trackers being adapted with AI to detect Covid-19 early, simply by spotting basic physiological changes. It monitors breathing rate, heart rate, heart rate variability, wrist skin temperature and blood flow. They also recorded possible Covid-19 symptoms such as fever. The study found there were significant changes in the body during the incubation period for the infection, the period before symptoms appeared, when symptoms appeared and during recovery, compared to non-infection.
