Auckland is taking a hammering from wind and rain, and worse is yet to come, WeatherWatch says. Police are urging people to take care on the roads as the wild weather hits. The low that brought heavy thunderstorms to the north last night was now siting over Canterbury and Otago. The wild weather that has been lashing the country brought an overdue dumping of snow on Mt Ruapehu last night. "The lows are circling around each other and it means there's a big wall of wind that's about to come into the North Island."
