General News of Monday, 6 April 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comIn what some have described as a “family meeting gone national,” reports recently emerged claiming that Cameroon’s long-serving president, Paul Biya, had handed his son, Franck Emmanuel Biya, three powerful positions, placing him at the centre of both political authority and military command. According to ARISE News and other media outlets, a purported decree dated April 4, 2026, names Franck Biya as Vice President of the Republic, Head of the Armed Forces, and Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Defence, all to be held simultaneously. He secured 54 percent of the vote in the most recent election, defeating opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who polled 35 percent. Tchiroma Bakary rejected the outcome, insisting he was the rightful winner and accused authorities of electoral fraud. It is important to note that as of the time publication, there has been no official confirmation from the Cameroonian government regarding any such appointment or restructuring of executive authority.
