Volvo Cars and Swedish bike-equipment brand POC have developed what they claim are world-first crash tests for bike helmets. The most common type of testing for bike helmets is to simply drop them from various heights to simulate impacts. SUPPLIED Not a bike in sight, but Volvo rig is being used to improve cyclist safety. For example, Volvo launched its pedestrian detection with full autobrake in 2010 and cyclist detection with full auto brake in 2013. In an earlier collaboration, Volvo and POC worked on a pilot to connect bike helmets with cars in order to help avoid accidents.
