World Skate confirms Didal's Olympic qualification

The Philippine contingent for the delayed Tokyo Olympics has reached double figures after World Skate confirmed Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal's qualification to the Games on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time). Didal, who missed out on an outright berth to the Games in the Skateboarding Worlds in Rome last week, qualified due to her place in the World Skateboarding Rankings. The Cebu native is ranked 17th in the world in the current Women's Street Skateboarding rankings and thus becomes the only Filipino to qualify in the sport. However, since two of the three podium finishers in Rome were already in the Top 16 in the rankings, Didal was able to squeeze in to the Games. Street Skateboarding, which Didal competes in, will tip off the day after the Games open on July 24.
