Hanh’s religious community, Plum Village, announced the teacher’s death on Twitter, saying that he died at midnight on Saturday morning. #thichnhathanh #Buddhism — Thich Nhat Hanh (@thichnhathanh) January 21, 2022The spiritual leader had largely stopped teaching after having a brain hemorrhage in 2014. Two years later, Hanh returned to Vietnam to participate in the peace movement at a time when the Vietnam War was escalating.
