In the singles event, reigning Asian junior champion Leong Jun Hao cruised into the fifth round of the boys event when he beat Johnnie Torjussen of England 21-8, 21-14. In the girls singles event, 2015 champion Goh Jin Wei reached the fifth round when she notched a 21-14, 21-13 win over Canada's Catherine Choi. Eoon Qi Xuan is the other Malaysian girls' singles to reach the fifth round after chalking up a 20-22, 21-18, 21-12 win over Taiwan's Huang Yin Hsuan.
