During a tour at the facility, the Chief Technician Engineer for GRIDCO, Bernard Tekpor said construction of the transmission tower will be finished soon as progress has been made. On March 25, one of the pylons near the Head office of GRIDCo that transmits power from Karpower and ASKA to the national grid was hacked down. The collapse of the tower which carries 16,000 kilovolts affected the integrity of another transmission line which caused power outages ‘dumsor’ in some parts of the country. However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the incident involving the pylon belonging to GRIDCo in Tema.
