Works are beginning on the R332 linking Galway to MayoConstruction is beginning for realignment on the 1.55km stretch of R332 linking Galway to Mayo. The route connects the N17 Tuam bypass with the N84 at Kilmaine and will see widening and realignment in key areas like Kilbannon village. Repeated safety concerns have been voiced since campaigns for this project began in 2017, where narrow roads and poor visibility made it dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Traffic in Tuam saw a significant increase experiencing over 2,000 more vehicles through the town in 2018 then the year prior. The funding is allocated from the Realignment Programme and is expected to be completed by December 2026.
